Armed Forces and Veterans

We’re proud to have a strong community of staff who bring unique skills and dedication of military life. Their experience enriches our hospitals every day and we welcome you to join us and make a difference.

Why GHFT

We are proud to be a Veteran Aware Trust, officially accredited by the Veterans Covenant Healthcare Alliance, reflecting our deep commitment to supporting the Armed Forces community. Our dedication has also earned us an Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) accreditation, highlighting the meaningful work we do to help service leavers transition into rewarding careers within our Trust. Here, your military experience is valued, your contribution is respected, and your future is full of opportunity.

“A hospital was the last place I thought I would end up, however working in the NHS offers so much for service leavers. There is a vast array of career opportunities within our organisation.”

The Armed Forces and Veterans Network

We’re committed to creating a positive, inclusive environment for both our staff and patients, and one of the ways we do this is through our dedicated network. Playing an active role in shaping meaningful improvements across the organisation, helping to enhance everyday experiences and ensure every voice is heard and valued.

Armed Forces Reserves

We take great pride in supporting our staff who choose to serve as part of the volunteer reserve forces. With a long-standing history of backing Reservists, we understand the value they bring to our organisation and the wider community. Our dedicated policy ensures that all our Reservists feel empowered and supported in balancing their careers with their military commitments, including offering paid leave for training so they can continue to grow both professionally and personally.
