Our culture

We are committed to developing and maintaining a culture where everyone feels valued and a true sense of belonging, regardless of their characteristics, a place where staff are proud to work and would recommend our hospitals as a place to work.

Our cultural
journey

As a Trust, we are building a culture around teamwork, leadership, inclusion, and creating a safe environment where individuals feel empowered to speak up. Through our Staff Experience Improvement Programme, we are focused on cultivating a workplace where differences are celebrated, and every team member feels valued, supported, and motivated to contribute. We are creating an environment where everyone has the opportunity to thrive and make a meaningful impact.

01

Teamwork development

Our Teamwork Development Workstream is focused on strengthening collaboration, communication, and trust within and across teams, helping to build a more connected, supportive, and high-performing workplace.

02

Supporting a safe speaking up culture

Our Safe Speaking Up Workstream is dedicated to creating a culture where all staff feel confident, supported, and protected when raising concerns, ensuring every voice is heard and valued.

03

Inappropriate
behaviours

We’ve launched a new Inappropriate Behaviours Workstream to actively address and prevent inappropriate behaviours across our Trust, including discrimination, building a culture where everyone feels safe, respected and supported.

Equality, Diversity
and Inclusion

Equality, Diversity and Inclusion is at the heart of who we are and how we work. We recognise that an inclusive culture is essential to creating a workplace where everyone feels respected, supported, and able to thrive. It’s about building a sense of belonging, celebrating our differences, and ensuring fairness in everything we do.

Flexible
working

Flexible working is about supporting you to have greater choice in where, when and how you work. We know many of our colleagues really value having this choice and for some, it is necessary in order to work at all. We offer a number of flexible working opportunities to help staff combine work and home life.

Community
connections

We engage with local residents and support partner organisations with health and wellbeing checks, offering information in multiple languages, and identifying barriers to accessing care. This work has been instrumental in guiding people to appropriate services and helping to alleviate the strain on emergency services.

Staff
experience

Making the Trust a better place to work. The annual NHS Staff Survey is one of the largest workforce surveys in the world and it is open for Gloucestershire Hospitals colleagues to take part. We want the Trust to be a place where we are all proud to work and that we feel we can provide the best care.

Freedom to
Speak Up

We are committed to a culture where staff feel able to openly raise their concerns with the clear expectation that they will be listened to, their concerns taken seriously and acted upon. Our Lead Freedom To Speak Up Guardian works closely with staff to understand and support safe speaking up.
