Our Endocrine Specialist Nurse service is breaking new ground in a District General Hospital setting and plays a key role in a national working group dedicated to improving care for patients with endocrine conditions. The move from student to Newly Qualified Nurse is a particularly crucial step in your journey to becoming an experienced practitioner. We know it can feel challenging and overwhelming, that’s why we offer all the support and opportunities you will need to fulfil your potential through our multi-disciplinary Preceptorship Programme. You’ll benefit from protected time for reflection, learning, and development, guided by experienced professionals within the Trust, who are committed to supporting your growth and confidence in the role.
We run a Professional Nurse Advocate (PNA) training programme which is an accredited virtual Level 7 programme for Registered Nurses. This will help equip you with the skills and knowledge to support the wellbeing of fellow colleagues and improvement of patient care. Our Legacy Mentors at GHFT are experienced members of staff who provide coaching, mentoring and pastoral support.
On completion of the Student Nurse Associate (SNA) Programme, you are eligible to complete a Registered Nurse Degree Apprenticeship. This is a 2-year degree apprenticeship for those who wish to progress from Nursing Associate to Registered Nurse.
Our Advanced Clinical Practitioners come from a range of professional backgrounds. They are healthcare professionals educated to Master’s level, and have developed the skills and knowledge to allow them to take on expanded roles and scope of practice caring for patients. The four pillars include, clinical practice, leadership, education and research.
