As a recognised hub for education and training, we provide Apprenticeships and specialised training programmes including diplomas and prescribing and are working towards advanced practice pathways. Each year, we offer Trainee Pharmacist and Trainee Pharmacy Technician placements across our acute hospitals. Providing a range of diverse experiences to help you excel in your career, as well as progressing our Pharmacy Assistant workforce.

We are at the forefront of many exciting projects including an award-winning service provided by pharmacist prescribers in OAS. Within the department are specialist clinical teams; the Specialist Mental Health Pharmacy facilitates delivery of Specialist services for Mental Health and Learning Disabilities, and the cancer services team provide a pharmacy service at both sites for Oncology and Haematology and Satellite Pharmacy, among other teams within the department. We utilise digital technology to enhance care and we hope you can join us on this journey to ensure patients receive the right medicine, at the right time, every time.

We offer a range of in-house and external development programmes, including mentoring programmes and clinical diplomas for Junior Pharmacists, as well as opportunities to undertake professional education programmes such as prescribing, quality improvement, advanced clinical skills and management and leadership courses. We are proud of developing all of our staff and have progression pathways for our Pharmacy Assistants and our Pharmacy Technicians, looking for their next step in their career.
